Gaiman knew what he was doing when he cast Desire and Despair as twins.
The Queen of Angles

Live at Lestat's, Disc Two, Track 5
I've collected broken men like bangles
To cover up the stitches on my wrists
When I sat down to play cards with the Queen of Angles
Black aces burned like mercy in my fists
I've lived life wet between the legs for danger
And learned to love the bourbon taste of chance
I've whispered all my secrets to that bottle-green-eyed stranger
Who never learned to keep it in his pants
Love is just a noose that gently strangles
Each act of love remains an act of war
The King of Hearts was dealt to the Queen of Angles
I am just the Jack of Diamonds' drunken whore
I've lived life wet between the legs for wonder
And learned to love the rush of breaking rules
I should have bought my ticket home before it dragged me under
I'm a penny candy in a jar of fools
We leap at every piece of bait she dangles
We keep Her Majesty well entertained
We're only puppets to the Queen of Angles
But it's worse when she gets bored, so don't complain
You cannot weave your life without some tangles
You can't stand tall if you crawl in crooked ways
And you can't win against the Queen of Angles
Even if she only plays it as it lays
